EastEnders Trailer BBC Christmas 2009
The trailer begins with a long, low angle shot of the 'Queen Victoria' pub with non diagetic Christmas music playing over the shot, it creates tension as it is due to the nature of the shot the audience know something bad is bound to happen.
The camera then cuts to a medium close up of two people having an intense conversation. The non diagetic music is still being played in the background which maintains the tension.
The camera cuts again to another shot of the pub and then quickly cuts again to a framing shot of a woman who is clearly about to walk into the pub. The non diagetic music is continuing to be played in the background. The woman turns around quickly and gasps which further builds the tension.
At this point the camera cuts to a woman wallking into a shot from in the shadows. As the shot is at night and the music is still creating tension you know she is involved in something dramatic.
The camera then cuts between framing shots of four seperate characters. The music continues to play and the audience is lead to assume they are somehow involved.
The camera then cuts to a medium close up of a man speaking to a woman, the woman says "Phil, what are you going to do?" and he replies "I'm going to kill him.". This builds the tension further.
The camera cuts again with the music continuing to play to a shot wich upwards to a man's face as he pours a drink. A narrative voice says "Has Archie decieved his last? Eastenders, Christmas day at eight on BBC one." over the shot. The audience is left with a cliffhanger that perhaps implies that soemthing is going to happen to this character and the six other characters in the trailer may be directly involved. The music stops playing as the clips finishes and the Eastenders theme begins.
